In another sign that Brooklyn is bouncing back from the ravages of Hurricane Sandy, it was learned this week that the nationwide chain Kohl’s will be reopening its department store in the Caesar’s Bay Shopping Mall in Bensonhurst early next month.

Bensonhurst Bean reported that Kohl’s will be reopening on April 7.

The store, located on the Gravesend Bay waterfront at 8973 Bay Parkway, had sustained serious damage in the Oct. 29 super-storm and has been closed ever since.

The store had more than 100 employees. Some of the workers found jobs in other Kohl’s locations in New York City. But many of the store’s employees were unable to find work in the wake of the storm.

Bensonhurst Bean also reported that another store located within the Caesar’s Bay Shopping Mall, Toys R Us, also sustained heavy damage in the hurricane, but was able to salvage its business before the holiday shopping season by moving into another space in the mall.

While Kohl’s could not save its holiday shopping business, the April reopening will ensure that the department store will be around to serve customers looking for summer clothes.
