Students Prep for Catholic Schools Week

BROOKLYN — Schools throughout the diocese are preparing for next week’s annual Catholic Schools Week celebration, during which members of the community as well as prospective parents and students are invited to attend a number of events showcasing the achievements and creativity of students already enrolled.
 
At St. Patrick School, 401 97th St., the week begins with an Open House on Monday, Jan. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. During the tours of the school, visitors will also be treated to an art show displaying the creative works of current students.
 
On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the school hosts its annual Science Fair, at which students in all grade levels will present their experiments to judges and visitors with hopes of winning a ribbon for first, second or third place. Thursday will feature several special guests who will speak to the children for “Career Day.” The weeklong celebration wraps up with Student Appreciation Day on Friday, during which children dress down and enjoy in-class parties.
 
St. Ephrem School, 7415 Fort Hamilton Parkway, has a full slate of events planned for next week as well. Sunday’s Open House will offer prospective parents a chance to see the school for themselves. On Monday, the school community will join together for a Family Appreciation Day, beginning at 9 a.m.
 
Wednesday is Teacher Appreciation Day, Thursday is Community Appreciation Day and Friday is Student Appreciation Day. For more information, call (718) 833-1440.
 
At Holy Angels Catholic Academy, 337 74th St., parents can visit for an Open House on Sunday, Jan. 29, from noon to 2 p.m. Open House events will also take place on Monday, Jan. 30 and Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday will be Teacher Appreciation Day. Wednesday will be Spirit Day.
 
On Thursday, Feb. 2, students will be asked to take part in the “Souperbowl” by bringing in two cans of soup each to benefit the OLA food pantry. Friday night at 6:30 p.m. will be the academy’s annual Olympics in the gymnasium. For more information, call (718) 238-5045.
 
In Sunset Park, the children of St. Agatha School at 736 48th St. are getting ready for several special events. Monday, Jan. 30, will be Student Health Day. The next day, grandparents will be the guests of honor as they are welcomed by students on Grandparents Day. The school choir will also perform that day. 
 
On Wednesday, Feb. 1, a prayer service will be held and students will collect soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and chapstick for the local homeless shelter. Thursday is Student Appreciation Day, with lots of fun activities planned, while the teachers get to enjoy Teacher & Staff Appreciation Day on Friday. For more information, call (718) 435-3137.
