ON THIS DAY in 1903, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Tammany’s Hold-Up Plan a Menace to Brooklyn.”
The article refers to issues discussed at a borough meeting, such as delayed bridge relief and other borough issues that were slowly progressing at the time.
“’Big politics’ – as that phrase is understood in Tammany Hall – was played yesterday by agents of the Wigwam in what really constitutes the opening of the Wigwam’s campaign for the recapture of the city’s strong box,” the article wrote.
