Brooklyn Tech 42, Fort Hamilton 0

It’s been just four games into the season, but it appears that the (0-4) Fort Hamilton Tigers are a snake-bitten team this year after losing their fourth consecutive game to the Engineers of Brooklyn Tech.  Fielding mainly a young sophomore and junior team, the Tigers suffered another blow to their team as they lost their entire backfield to injury, which included both starting running backs Michael Brooks and Isaiah Washington, as well as starting quarterback Adrian Maldonado to a concussion.

After Adrian Maldonado had his bell rung in last week’s Clinton game, it was up to second-string quarterback Devon Watts to switch from defense to take the snaps from center.  Despite the Tigers’ preparation to ensure that they would get their first win at on their home turf, an early first-quarter fumble set the tone of the game as Tech’s quarterback Brandon Schneider converted the turnover for the first score of the game.

After their first score, the Engineers took command taking a 21-0 lead by the half with two addition touchdown runs by the highly recruited senior Tech running back James Gales.  In the second half, Gales added a third touchdown run of 44 yards, as Tristan Brown’s 30-yard touchdown run and Kyvaune Brammer’s 12-yard reception nailed the win for Brooklyn Tech.

In contrast to Fort Hamilton’s mere 48 total offensive yards, Brooklyn Tech rolled up a whopping 347 yards in the course of scoring 6 touchdowns.  “It’s like starting all over again,” stated Fort Hamilton Head Coach Dan Perez to the Engineers’ afternoon of dominance.  “I’ve got a totally new backfield in there and they’ve got to get in their reps.”

The Tigers’ Khalif Tolluch (#44) is closet defender to Brooklyn Tech’s James Gales as he follows his blockers downfield for a 44-yard touchdown, his third of the game.

Citing one bright spot for the Tigers, Coach Perez noted the return of his star safety Travon Reid Segure who had been out since the start of the season with a leg injury.  “He makes a big difference for us but he still coming back little by little.”

As far as the quarterback situation goes, all Perez could say was, “It’s out of my hands.  It’s a waiting game now.  I don’t know when he [Maldonado] will be back. ”

Still in search of their first win of the season, the 0-4 Tigers go on the road next week to take on another struggling team, the 1-3 Sharks of Sheepshead Bay.

Brooklyn Tech Head Coach Kyle Mckenna wishes Fort Hamilton’s injured running back Michael Brooks well after a 42-0 win over the Tigers.
