Thompson’s name removed from letterhead
Ken Thompson, Brooklyn’s district attorney-elect, will have his name removed from the letterhead of the firm he started a decade ago.
The American Bar Association rules of ethics requires “name of a lawyer holding a public office…not be used in the name of a law firm.” New York, which follows ABA guidelines, thus demands that Thompson, who will be sworn in to office in January, have his name taken off of any signage and letterhead of his Manhattan law firm Thompson Wigdor LLP.
Thompson’s co-founding partner, Douglas Wigdor, will remain on the masthead and the firm will be renamed Wigdor LLP.
