Undercover Secret Service agent hits and kills Brooklyn mother with Chevy Impala

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — An on-duty and undercover Secret Service agent fatally struck a 47-year-old mother of five Thursday afternoon in Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to police sources and witnesses who spoke to the Daily News.

Maria Tripp, who was also a grandmother, was crossing Atlantic Avenue at Ralph Avenue with her daughter and nephew when she was hit by a black Chevrolet Impala.

She was taken to Interfaith Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Tripp’s nephew and niece were unharmed.

The Secret Service confirmed to the News that the man who hit Tripp was “an employee and he was on the job.”

Police sources would not identify the driver due to his undercover status. No criminality is suspected.
