UNIQLO apparel store opens In Downtown’s Atlantic Terminal

A UNIQLO outlet opened on Friday at the Atlantic Terminal Mall, mall owner Forest City Ratner announced. This new location is the Japanese-owned apparel chain’s first store in Brooklyn. 

The new store occupies more than 14,000 square feet in a high-traffic location next to the mall’s anchor tenant, Target.

UNIQLO celebrated the opening last weekend with in-store giveaways and live performances by Japanese taiko drummers in the mall’s public plaza.

The mall also recently welcomed MAC and an expanded Carol’s Daughter, and will see the redesign and expansion of Brooklyn flagship stores for both Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works within the next few weeks.

“The Downtown Brooklyn area has become a mecca for culture, entertainment and retail,” said Forest City Executive Vice President for Retail Development Kathy Welch. “With the addition of UNIQLO, one of the world’s most exciting fashion retailers, to the 800,000 square feet of retail at Atlantic Center and Atlantic Terminal this area will become an even more desirable destination for shoppers.”

Currently, UNIQLO has stores in 13 countries, including seven in the United States. This number that will increase to 17 stores this fall. UNIQLO sells its own private label of clothing and specializes in wardrobe essentials and basics.
