Capital New York writes about an unofficial bike race called the Red Hook Criterium that takes place on a regular basis. The ride has grown from a late-night ride for locals to one that draws corporate sponsors and competitors from as far away as Italy and Spain.  There’s only one rule: Competitors must ride fixed-gear track bikes. These bicycles, widely used by bike messengers, usually don’t have brakes, so they’re difficult to control.
