Eye On Real Estate: Flatbush Installment Two

Snip, snip.

The Victorian Flatbush real estate market is hot – but even so, some houses are priced too ambitiously, then need to be cut.

Take 112 Marlborough Road. The initial asking price for the handsome Prospect Park South house designed by noted architect John J. Petit was $2.4 million. It was recently trimmed to $2.195 million, listings by Elliman, its broker, indicate.

The property has belonged to Laura Jacobson since 1993, according to city Finance Department records.

Another house, 870 Ocean Ave. in Ditmas Park, came out of the gate at $2.3 million. Listing broker Corcoran later cut the price to $1.9 million, online records indicate.

The 14-room house is huge and sits on a corner lot. But Ocean Avenue has noisier traffic than the neighborhood's quiet side streets, where bird song is usually the loudest thing out there unless someone's mowing a lawn.

The house has belonged to Qwie T. Chew and George Chew since 1975, according to city records.
