Want to attend Obama’s inauguration? Schumer has tickets!
What do U.S. Senator Charles Schumer and Yolanda Vega have in common? They’re both associated with a lottery. In Vega’s case, it’s the New York State Lottery, which she has served as a television personality for several years. But Schumer can now boast that he is holding a lottery. The prize isn’t money. Those who enter will get the chance to win tickets to President Barack Obama’s second inauguration in Washington D.C. in January.
Schumer announced on Nov. 15 that his office will be conducting a statewide lottery to distribute inaugural tickets to New Yorkers who request them. Schumer said his office has received requests for tickets from constituents across New York City and Long Island who are trying to experience a piece of American history by seeing President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden sworn in for a second term.
Schumer’s office will distribute tickets during a random drawing that will be held on December 14. The deadline to submit requests will be December 13, with request only being accepted through Schumer’s website.
