Brooklyn’s Chinese New Year celebration on Eighth Avenue in Sunset Park marked the beginning of the year of the dragon, and the seventh day of the Lunar New Year.

Ringing in the Lunar New Year on Jan. 23, many Brooklynites celebrate by visiting family and having large dinners, where money is often given out as gifts in small red envelopes.

Sunday’s events included performances, confetti cannons and a parade, while shops and restaurants on the block were all packed with people.
