Chief of Orthopedic Trauma at Lutheran Spends Two Weeks in Haiti

In Jan. 22, Dr. Tom Lyon, physician chief of Orthopedic Trauma at Lutheran Medical Center, traveled with a team of 19 medical and surgical professionals to Hospital Eleazar Germaine on a relief mission to help those affected by the Haitian earthquake. They spent two weeks helping patients in dire circumstances at the hospital, located in Pétion-ville, a suburb in the hills of the nation’s capital, but still part of Port au Prince’s metropolitan area.

Beth Israel Kings Highway Presents Awards to Employees

KINGS HIGHWAY — More than 200 employees were honored by Beth Israel Medical Center-Kings Highway Division on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at a breakfast gathering at El Caribe in Mill Basin.

Healthcare Advocates Rally at Borough Hall

Telling Democrats to “show some backbone” and pass a national health care bill, members of MoveOn.org, a liberal advocacy group, rallied at Brooklyn Borough Hall at noon Tuesday. “Democrats need to provide affordable health care for all American families,” declared Shawn Walsh, regional coordinator for the activist group.
