Brandon von Koschembahr, a descendant of Brooklyn Heights residents, died November 25 of injuries suffered in a Connecticut car accident, the Ridgefield Press reported. A computer expert and volunteer fireman, he was 19 years old.
Brandon’s father, Christopher von Koschembahr, grew up in the Heights. He is the son of Cary Bailey and the late Dietrich von Koschembahr, who were members of Grace Church here.
Brandon had lived in Ridgefield since 2002, after returning from Belgium, where his father had been working. A major in Web design and graphics as a sophomore at Western Connecticut State University, Brandon had been featured on CBS’s “60 Minutes” as a computer geek who could solve problems encountered by home computer users. He was noted for his helpfulness, and was named “Volunteer of the Month” several times for his diligent fire department service.
He is survived by his parents, Christopher and Valerie von Koschembahr, by a brother, Brookes, all of Ridgefield; by his paternal grandmother, Cary Bailey of Tiverton, RI, and his maternal grandmother, Jeanne Lauf of Lawrenceville, NJ.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, Dec. 20, 2 p.m., at Lee Memorial Church in Ridgefield.
