Astroland in Coney Island is seen after it closed for what its owners said is the last time. Tuesday, in response to published reports, Mayor Bloomberg said, “What we’re trying to do is to get Astroland to have another one-year extension of their lease so that we can get the rezoning done and hopefully come to an agreement with Thor [the park’s landlord]. It continues to be a difficult negotiation, but I think that if everybody can pull together, we’ll be successful.”
During the one-year period, Astroland could look for a new location, reports said.
