BROOKLYN COLLEGE — The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York recently announced the appointment of Dr. Karen L. Gould, the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Long Beach, and an internationally known scholar in the field of French-Canadian literature, as the president of Brooklyn College.
The appointment was made at the recommendation of Chancellor Matthew Goldstein following a nationwide search for a successor to President Christoph M. Kimmich, who recently announced his retirement after 10 years of distinguished service.
Brooklyn College is known for its distinguished alumni, including Senator Barbara Boxer, the late former Congresswoman Shirley A. Chisholm, international film and television star Jimmy Smits, lawyer Alan M. Dershowitz, advertising executive and restaurateur Jerry Della Femina and novelist Frank McCourt.
