Retired Police Captain Rasinya Had Hands-on Approach

Dean Rasinya has served the city twice, first for many years in the Police Department and most recently as chair of Community Board 10 for Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.

President Susan Huizinga of the Narrows Community Theater is honored at Community Board 10 meeting by Chair Dean Rasinya and District Manager Josephine Beckmann after leading Pledge of Allegiance. Huizinga said that the famed local theater company needs help in finding a permanent new home and encouraged people to attend its production of the “Damn Yankees” musical at St. Patrick’s Church Hall during the first two weekends of November.

Reportedly Held Cops Off With Knife Before Jump

A man was rescued from the East River by firefighters after he plunged from the Brooklyn Bridge around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. The distraught subject, who was reportedly armed with a knife, kept cops at bay for a half hour before plummeting from the roadway. He was transported to Lutheran Medical Center with what a police official called “miraculously” minor injuries.
