Board 10 Honors Narrows Community Theater Leader

President Susan Huizinga of the Narrows Community Theater is honored at Community Board 10 meeting by Chair Dean Rasinya and District Manager Josephine Beckmann after leading Pledge of Allegiance. Huizinga said that the famed local theater company needs help in finding a permanent new home and encouraged people to attend its production of the “Damn Yankees” musical at St. Patrick’s Church Hall during the first two weekends of November.

Fort Hamilton Military Families Get Local Discount Book From Board 10

Command Sergeant Major Sylvia Laughlin of Fort Hamilton Army Base, holds first-ever military families discount booklet from local restaurants and businesses, a project of Community Board 10’s new Military and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee, chaired by Judith Collins, at right. Reportedly Held Cops Off With Knife Before Jump

A man was rescued from the East River by firefighters after he plunged from the Brooklyn Bridge around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. The distraught subject, who was reportedly armed with a knife, kept cops at bay for a half hour before plummeting from the roadway. He was transported to Lutheran Medical Center with what a police official called “miraculously” minor injuries.
