WILLIAMSBURG — Brooklyn Community Board 1 District Manager Gerald A. Esposito, after leading the fight to secure a traffic light at Graham Avenue and Frost Street, was pleased to learn from NYC DOT Brooklyn Commissioner Joseph Palmieri that a traffic signal will be installed at that corner.
Esposito noted that “this location desperately needed traffic controls to make crossing safer for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.”
For several years, he has brought this problem location directly to the attention of the Department of Transportation. He related that many accidents occurred at this intersection and additional controls were highly needed to stem the constant speeding traffic along Graham Avenue.
He further said, “I am delighted that DOT completed their recent traffic studies in a positive way this time that will benefit the community at large. The agency will enhance the intersection at Withers Street and Graham Avenue as well by upgrading the all-way stop to a signal.
“I extend my thanks to Commissioner Palmieri for his attention in this matter, and also to NYPD Capt. Paul E. Vorbeck, commanding officer at the 94th Precinct, for his assistance provided. Their diligence helped to forge the safety remedy that we most urgently sought.”
