Golden Holds Appreciation Dinner for Volunteers
by Brooklyn Eagle (edit@brooklyneagle.net), published online 02-07-2008

BAY RIDGE — State Senator Marty Golden held an appreciation dinner on Jan. 31 at the Bay Ridge Manor to honor all those who volunteered for his events and initiatives this year, including the Halloween Art Walk, the Easter Egg Hunt and summer concert series.

Of course, the other man behind all these popular celebrations is Chip Cafiero, Golden’s longtime friend and event coordinator. So in addition to the 490 certificates printed to honor these community volunteers, Golden also acknowledged his hardworking festival guru (Cafiero is also the brains behind the Third Avenue Festival, Bay Ridge Family Day, and the Harry Potter party this past summer).

Many high school groups were also honored — Adelphi Academy, Fontbonne Hall, Fort Hamilton, Xaverian and Brooklyn Tech among them — as well as such community volunteer groups such as CERT, BRAVO, the 62nd and 68t Precinct auxiliary police officers, Shore Road Garden Council and the Sunset-Ridge Waterfront Alliance.
