Remembering Frankie... It was my pleasure to attend the first annual Francesco Loccisano Foundation golf outing on Monday at Dyker Golf Course. Organized by Camille Loccisano (Frankie’s mom) and Christopher Loccisano (his brother), the event was run by Kevin Breen and attended by more than 100 of Frankie’s friends, relatives and teachers. The forecast over the weekend wasn’t too promising for Monday, but Camille said a prayer to her son to ensure good golf weather for the day. “It’s a beautiful day,” announced Camille as the shotgun was about to start. My driver for the day was Gennaro Anzalone, a boyhood friend of Frankie’s since the fifth grade. They grew up across the street from each other, attended St. Ephrem’s together and then Xaverian. They shared every class freshman year. “He was a quiet kid,” said Gennaro. “Quiet, but very funny. He was very political, too. He wanted to be a lawyer.” Anzalone will attend SUNY Albany in the fall. The golf outing raised both money and awareness for childhood cancer research. This was one of Frankie’s wishes.

I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy... This is going to be some weekend coming up. The Yankees are hosting the Red Sox at the stadium for four games beginning Thursday night, and baseball just doesn’t get any better. The Sox are ahead of the Yanks at this point, but it’s only mid-season. There’s a lot of baseball left, starting with this series. All one can ask is that they’re gonna be decent games.

Celebrate the Fourth... Hey, if you’re going to be home, here in Bay Ridge, think about heading down to Shore Road and 83rd Street. Frankie Marra is inviting all of Bay Ridge down to a Fourth of July picnic where there will be music all day and games for the kids. Chip Cafiero promised me a “sprinkler,” too. From noon until dusk, the bands will play, and food will be available for purchase, thanks to the 68th Precinct Youth Council. There is no charge for the picnic. I hear Prodigal Child, with Mike Riddle on guitar, will be playing at 5 p.m. and, of course, The Frankie Marra Band will also play.

Congratulations to Michael Thomas Vella... my godson, for graduating West Windsor High School in New Jersey. Mike will be attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, better known as Virginia Tech, in the fall for their engineering program. I guess I will have to be a Hokie fan now. I could definitely root for their lacrosse team with ease — I believe they were 0-5 last year in their division and 4-12 overall. Hey, don’t forget, I am a Jets fan, so I’m used to rooting for a losing squad. Look what happened to my beloved Red Sox — Go Hokies!

Would You Believe? I Liked It... My other godson, Michael Thomas Borst, spent a day with me last week. We started off our day at the Brooklyn Eagle office, and Mike had a great time watching Uncle Tom finish off last week’s column. We then went down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Rain clouds began to appear over the Brooklyn Bridge so we left for the movies to see Get Smart. We both gave it “two thumbs up.”

Tuesday in the Park with Bob, Revisited... Five weeks to go. That’s right, D-Day is on the way. I’m talking Dylan Day, August 12, Prospect Park Bandshell. I’m preparing myself for the big day by listening to Dylan songs I haven’t heard in a long time, like songs off of the album “Shot of Love,” a 1981 release with some pretty amazing cuts. “Heart of Mine” and “The Groom’s Still Waiting at the Altar” are two fine examples. “Lenny Bruce” and “Every Grain of Sand” are two classics that I always forget about. “Shot of Love” was actually released on August 12, 1981. Weird, huh?

Bay Ridge Welcomes Plaxico Burress... Hey N.Y. Giants fans, on Tuesday, July 8, at 7 p.m., Plaxico Burress of this year’s Super Bowl Championship New York Giants, will be signing copies of his book, Giant: The Road To The Super Bowl, at my favorite bookstore, The BookMark Shoppe, 8415 Third Ave. If you can’t be there, just order a signed copy and pick it up later. Just ask Bina or Tina and tell them the big guy sent you!

Golden Concerts in the Park... Also on Tuesday, July 8, the Narrows Community Theater Ensemble will perform Broadway tunes and other songs down at 79th Street and Shore Road at 7:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair. In case of poor weather, cancellations will be listed on the concert hotline, (718) 236-7547, by 5 p.m. day of concert. Thanks, Marty.

Movies on the Narrows... Thank you, Joan Regan and your wonderful staff, for bringing us Movies on the Narrows once again. Their first feature will be The Money Pit on Thursday, July 10.

Of course, there is no charge. The flick is a hilarious 1986 comedy starring Tom Hanks and Shelly Long. Anyone who ever renovated their home will have an extra few laughs. The movie will be shown at sundown in the grass oval of Narrows Botanical Gardens... located off Shore Road between 69th and 71st streets. Light refreshments (including popcorn!) will be available. Bring blankets or chairs and friends and neighbors. Come on out and enjoy! The rain date is Friday, July 11, and their web site is www.narrowsbg.org.

On the Theater Front... The Rockaway Theatre Company will be performing “The Music Man” by Meredith Wilson on July 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 8 p.m., with matinees on July 6, 13, and 20 at 2 p.m. The performances will be at the Post Theater in Ft. Tilden. For more info check out their web site at www.rockawaytheatrecompany.org

My Picks of the Week... Josh Dion’s song “Pilot” has been playing on my iPod for two weeks. You may not know this guy just yet, but you will — guaranteed. My movie of the week is Get Smart. My book of the week is one I have recommended before, the same one I just gave away twice in the past two weeks as graduation gifts: The Giver, by Lois Lowry. It’s a great book for kids of all ages.
