Well-known people who were born today include former soccer player Diego Maradona, actor Dick Gautier (Bye Bye Birdie), actor Charles Martin Smith and actor Henry Winkler (“Happy Days”).
MARKOWITZ TO SPEAK at Kensington Post Office.
Today at 11 a.m., Borough President Marty Markowitz will join the U.S. Postal Service for a free public demonstration of the recently installed automated postal center at the Kensington Station Post Office.
The self-service kiosks can assist customers with purchasing stamps, shipping packages, sending mail, searching for a zip code and printing labels.
The Kensington Post Office is located at 419 McDonald Ave. between Albermarle Road and Church Avenue.
BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY TO HOST ‘Spooky Salon.’
Tomorrow at 4 p.m., comedians Andrea Rosen and Leo Allen will host the Brooklyn Public Library’s Spooky Salon at the library’s main branch at Grand Army Plaza.
Andrea, Leo and others will read scary stories to both children and adults.
Andrea is best known for her work in Flight of the Conchords. She also has been seen in commercials for the New York State Lottery, Yoplait and Macy’s.
Leo performs in comedy clubs and also worked as a writer for “Saturday Night Live” for several years.
MONSTER MASH FEST at Children’s Museum.
Today and tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m., the Brooklyn Children’s Museum is summoning all goblins big and small to attend its annual Monster Mash Fest celebrating the harvest season and Halloween!
Little witches, ghouls, and princesses can enjoy the Museum’s fun-filled, themed programs for two nights.
Children of all ages are encouraged to attend dressed in their best Halloween finery.
All daytime programs are included with general Museum admission. On the two evenings, special admission tickets are required to entry to the party.
