Good morning. Today is the 307th day of the year. It is Election Day in the United States, the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Many state and local government elections are on this day, as well as presidential and congressional elections in the appropriate years. All U.S. Congressional seats and one-third of U.S. Senate seats are up for election in even-numbered years. This day is a state holiday in 12 states.

FIRST THURSDAY GALLERY WALK in DUMBO.
On Thursday, DUMBO will welcome art lovers and fun seekers to its art-filled gallery spaces to celebrate the vivacious New York art scene that has become a cultural hallmark for this Brooklyn neighborhood.
Receptions, exhibitions, live music and artists will abound in the countless galleries, neighborhood bars and restaurants participating in this month’s First Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Two Trees Management will host this festive evening of art and culture, a monthly occasion allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the city’s extensive cultural offerings.
This month’s gallery walk will feature live music, artist discussions, exhibitions, receptions, drink specials and views of the Manhattan skyline.
Noteworthy events will include an artist talk by Wade Kavanaugh and Stephen Nguyen at the Dumbo Arts Center, inaugural shows at two new galleries and more.
ACES PROGRAM Needs Volunteers
The Community Services Society’s Retired and Senior Volunteers Program is sponsoring the Advocacy, Counseling and Entitlement Services (ACES) project.
This project provides people with information on government benefits, answers to benefit questions, referrals, individual advocacy and personal assistance in obtaining benefits.
Volunteers give information on food stamps, Medicaid, public assistance, Social Security, SSI, disability payments, Medicare Part D and more. They are placed in public buildings throughout the city.
