Good morning. Today is the 314th day of the year. It is the birth anniversary (1925) of British actor Richard Burton, best known for his 1963 version of Cleopatra and his two marriages to co-star Elizabeth Taylor. His other films included Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Becket and Equus.

ARTIST MARY KELLY To Speak at Pratt.
Artist Mary Kelly will speak at Pratt Institute about her influences, artwork and career as part of the 2009-10 Visiting Artists Lecture Service, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. today in the school’s Engineering Building.
Kelly has contributed extensively to the discourse of feminism and postmodernism through her large-scale narrative installations and theoretical writings.
Kelly is the fourth artist of eight invited to speak as a part of the fall program of the 2009-10 Visiting Artists Lecture Series. The series is coordinated by graduate students Yael Rechter and Elizabeth Stehling.
Kelly is a professor of art at the University of California at Los Angeles.
VETERANS DAY LUNCHEON at Fort Wadsworth.
On Veterans Day tomorrow, St. Vincent’s U.S. Family Health Plan’s Health Center at Fort Wadsworth will honor more than 250 military retirees with 20 years or more of service, many of them from Brooklyn’s Fort Hamilton.
The luncheon, known as “Salute of Gratitude,” will include entertainment by a group known as The Liberty Belles, who will perform patriotic tunes from the 1940s. Each of the veterans will be given a Thanksgiving turkey.
The average age of the military retirees who will be attending is 70 years old. Most of them served in World War II, the Korean War or Vietnam.
U.S. Family Health Plan at St. Vincent’s opened its Fort Wadsworth Health Center at Fort Hamilton in 2006 to serve the military community in Brooklyn and Staten Island.
