B’klyn Man Faces Two Trials For Kidnapping and Murder
by Brooklyn Eagle (edit@brooklyneagle.net), published online 10-23-2008

JAY STREET – A Brooklyn man charged with the rape and murder of a young woman did not appear in Kings County Supreme Court yesterday as scheduled – because he is on trial in Queens for the kidnapping of a different young woman.

Darryl Littlejohn is accused of first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Imette St. Guillen, a John Jay grad student and Boston resident. She was last seen alive leaving The Falls nightclub in Soho where Littlejohn worked as a bouncer.

Her naked body was found wrapped in a bedspread in East New York, bound with plastic ties and reams of packing tape. Medical examiners concluded she had been raped, sodomized and choked to death.

Littlejohn’s trial in the death of St. Guillen will take place in Kings County Supreme Court. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 5.

In Queens Supreme Court, he is on trial for allegedly kidnapping Shanai Woodward.

Woodward sobbed on the witness’ bench while she described being handcuffed and thrown into a van, allegedly by Littlejohn.

The 5-foot, 125-pound woman said she managed to throw herself from the moving van.

She said she “hit the ground hard” and rolled into a dirt patch. She stated that the van stopped, but that when people outside started to notice it sped off.

St. Guillen’s death led city lawmakers to pass the “Bouncer Bill,” which requires clubs to do background checks on their security workers.
