BAY RIDGE — A Brooklyn veteran recently donated a work of art to the Brooklyn campus of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System, otherwise known as the Brooklyn VA Hospital.

Under a hot summer sun, Senator Marty Golden and about 175 patriotic Bay Ridge residents and veterans braved the heat to mark the Flag Day commemoration on Saturday, June 14.
A highlight of the day was the introduction of Colonel Steven Smith, the new commander of Fort Hamilton. Senator Golden introduced him to the cheering crowd and the colonel expressed his thanks and anticipation of working with the supportive Bay Ridge residents.

BROOKLYN -- On June 10, 2008, at approximately ten hundred hours, a command change occurred at the United States Army Garrison at Fort Hamilton.
