Firefighters were called to 4th Ave. and 15th St. in Park Slope just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of smoke from a corner building. Once there, they discovered fire in a basement, rapidly extending to upper floors and an adjacent building. Eventually, a three-alarm response was called in to stop the flames from spreading, and the fire was declared under-control within an hour. Investigators believe that it may have been sparked by a malfunctioning electrical panel in the basement.
