Green-Wood Cemetery has announced that its famed Gothic Arch is undergoing a major $750,000 facelift that will restore this architectural gem close to its original design. The project is scheduled to be completed this fall. Designed by Richard M. Upjohn, son of Trinity Church architect Richard Upjohn, the arch was constructed between 1861 and 1863. The center spire rises 106 feet and is flanked by two 90-foot towers.
Integrated Conservation Resources (ICR) was commissioned by the cemetery to develop the restoration plan. Integrated Conservation Contracting (ICC) is handling the actual work.
