Could Be Third Tallest Tower in Downtown B’klyn

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — The property at 384-394 Bridge St. in Downtown Brooklyn appears ready for construction to begin on a proposed 49-story mixed-use residential tower.
The site has been fenced for awhile, the existing buildings demolished and the site cleared, but developer Greg Wolpert still does not wish to discuss his plans. (At least he has not returned numerous phone calls from this newspaper.)
And the architect, James Davidson of SLCE Architects, cannot discuss it without the developer’s approval.
It’s been reported previously in the Eagle, based on Downtown Brooklyn Partnership documents, that Wolpert’s firm, Stahl Real Estate, plans a $152 million, 435,000-square-foot building with 250 market rate condominium units, 20,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of office space.
Additionally, Department of Buildings records reveal a “disapproved” application for a 461,933-square-foot 528-foot-tall building with 360 condominium units.
At that height, the proposed tower joins two other Downtown Brooklyn buildings that will surpass the iconic (512-foot-tall) Williamsburgh Savings Bank building — the City Point development at Albee Mall on Fulton Street, which will be 65 stories; and an as yet approved proposal by The Clarett Group to construct a 55-story building on Lawrence Street.
