BOERUM HILL — With the opening of The Nu Hotel at The Smith and closings taking place for the adjacent condominiums, the building is ready to install some retail tenants, according to Elliot Bogod of A&I Broadway Realty.
A&I Broadway Realty has been hired to exclusively represent Boymelgreen Developers for the retail spaces at 75 Smith St., corner of Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill.
“We will consider all types of uses ranging from furniture/design stores, to clothing retail, supermarket and restaurants,” Bogod said. “Spaces are ready to receive a kitchen and have dramatic frontage on Atlantic Avenue.”
According to Bogod, there are three spaces — one at 7,800 square feet, one at 1,320 square feet and one at 931 square feet.
Bogod believes a restaurant will be the perfect addition to The Nu Hotel, which does not have a restaurant attached, only a lounge.
“The synergy created by the appeal of a brand new hotel is a serious asset for any kind of retail,” he said.
Residents must be rejoicing at the long-awaited opening of the new boutique hotel inside Boymelgreen development “since to most in this neighborhood it has seemed that Boymelgreen has been building this structure for nearly a decade. In the firm’s defense, demanding engineering and construction was required to build the underground garage and foundation since it rests over a subway line.”
He also notes that “times are changing” in the area, with Trader Joes coming, trendy brand stores like Brooklyn Industries opening up and restaurants of all types opening along Smith Street, just south of Atlantic.
