Pop-Up Flea DUMBO To Open Jan. 10
by Brooklyn Eagle (edit@brooklyneagle.net), published online 12-08-2008

Leasing Indoor Space at 70 Washington St. From Two Trees

The popular Brooklyn Flea Market, which closes for the season on Sunday, Dec. 21, will reopen as an indoor flea market Jan. 10 in DUMBO.

Two Trees Management Co. reports it has leased 4,500 square feet of vacant storefront space in its building at 70 Washington St. for 12 weekends to Jonathan Butler and Eric Demby, organizers of the Brooklyn Flea, according to a Two Trees spokesperson.

First reported in New York Magazine on Friday, Dec. 5, Butler the “Pop-Up Flea DUMBO,” as Butler and Demby are calling it, will run indoors on Saturdays and Sundays from Saturday, Jan. 10, through Sunday, March 29.

Caroline Pardo, director of commercial leasing for Two Trees, represented the landlord in the lease negotiations.

Demby told New York Magazine the space can only accommodate 30 vendors, about a fifth of regular capacity, and it’ll be “mostly antiques and vintage sellers, no new stuff, no handmade stuff.” But there will be bathrooms. “That’s a huge thing,” he said.
