According to the Empire State Development Corp., Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation (BBPDC) will assume management of Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, streamlining the effort to create Brooklyn Bridge Park. This will enable BBPDC to improve Empire Fulton Ferry State Park grounds, rehabilitate the Civil War-era Empire Stores warehouse, and install Jane Walentas’ antique carousel at the park.
State Parks will lease Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park to BBPDC for 99 years at $1 per year. BBPDC will manage all operations of Fulton Ferry Park, issue a request for proposals to rehabilitate and reuse Empire Stores and manage the Tobacco Warehouse.
