‘Green’ Liberty Apartments Break Ground in Cypress Hills

EAST NEW YORK — A groundbreaking took place last week in East New York for the Liberty Apartments, a project of the Cypress Hills Local Development Corp. in partnership with Dunn Development Corp.

Joining in the festivities were Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and representatives of the Cypress Hills LDC, Dunn Development and Moen.

The development, comprised of 43 affordable studios, one-, two- and three-bedrooon rental apartments on Liberty Avenue between Fountain Avenue and Crystal Street, will feature state-of-the-art low-flow faucets and showerheads in every unit — all donated by the internationally-known Moen.

Markowitz, who introduced Moen to the affordable housing market in Brooklyn, said he was proud to bring together the kitchen and bath fixtures giant and the LDC and Dunn as affordable housing partners.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
