Developers Sought For Seven Brooklyn Industrial Properties in East New York
EAST NEW YORK — The NYC Economic Development Corp. (EDC) is seeking developers for seven Brooklyn industrial properties.
With a goal of activating vacant parcels of land and creating new jobs, the EDC said it’s on on an expedited schedule.
An informational meeting will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 110 William St. Proposals are due no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) identifies the sites, all in the East New York Industrial Business Zone (IBZ), as vacant, city-owned parcels ranging in size from 2,000 square feet to 19,000 square feet and all zoned for light industrial manufacturing uses.
“Today more than ever, it is important that we provide our industrial companies with affordable development and expansion opportunities,” said Seth Pinsky, EDC president. “These seven sites, which bring with them access to a number of attractive incentive programs, also offer excellent opportunities for developers or industrial companies to create highly-desirable industrial jobs.”
In addition to being located in the East New York IBZ, the sites are also within the East New York II Urban Renewal Area or the Brownsville II Urban Renewal Area, and the East Brooklyn Empire Zone.
It is anticipated that all proposed uses will comply with applicable Urban Renewal Plan and zoning requirements.
The sites offered include:
• Brownville Industrial Site 3, lan approximately 19,000-square-foot lot on Sackman Street, surrounded by industrial uses.
• East New York Site 2, an approximately 3,300-square-foot parcel at the corner of East New York and Van Sinderen avenues, adjacent to an elevated train line and an industrial user.
• East New York Site 5, an approximately 2,000-square-foot lot on Hinsdale Street.
• East New York Site 8, an approximately 2,000-square-foot lot located across from Site 5 on Hinsdale Street.
• East New York Site 17, an approximately 9,450-square-foot paved corner lot at Glenmore Avenue and Hinsdale Street.
• East New York Site 22, an approximately 4,100-square-foot paved corner lot with multiple access points at Glenmore and Snediker avenues, surrounded by vacant, privately-owned parcels with compatible private industrial users nearby.
• East New York Site 34, a 2,400-square-foot lot about 100 feet from the nearby Sutter Avenue commercial strip. Although the site also allows for commercial development, the EDC is encouraging industrial uses.
Respondents should be willing to participate in a targeted hiring and workforce development plan, as well as address the minority- and women-owned business enterprises goals.
The EDC supports green building techniques and will favor proposals that articulate the sustainability goals their projects intend to achieve.
