Murders Shock Gowanus Area And Clinton Hill
by Brooklyn Eagle (edit@brooklyneagle.net), published online 03-26-2008

Two men were killed in Brooklyn on Tuesday in separate encounters, according to the New York Times.

In the first incident, Sanjeev Seekoomar, 34, was found on Tuesday morning stabbed to death in his basement apartment at 326 Carroll St. in Gowanus. The door to the apartment was pushed in and the apartment ransacked, indicating a possible burglary or robbery. Some online sources said that Seekoomar may have been killed by a sex partner.

In the second killing, Leval Lyde, 36, was fatally shot in the torso on busy Fulton Street in Clinton Hill, near Vanderbilt Avenue. He was shot around 4:50 p.m. and died soon afterward at Brooklyn Hospital Center, the police said.

According to the “Ain’t No Jiveass Suckas” hip-hop blog, Lyde was a rapper whose stage name was MC Calvar, and was gaining fame for his “Step Up Your Game” DVD. He was coming out of the Fish and Crustaceans restaurants when he was shot.

Police were still investigating both incidents yesterday, and no arrests had been made.
