Cops Nab Bay Ridge Graffiti Perps
by Brooklyn Eagle (edit@brooklyneagle.net), published online 04-03-2008

BAY RIDGE — Two teenagers were arrested last Friday for graffiti in Bay Ridge. Ulises Castro, 17, and Fernando Trejo, 16, were each picked up from their respective homes early Friday afternoon after they were identified in the surveillance camera of Xtreme Billiards and Bar, 823 65th St.

The two suspects are charged with graffiti making and possession of graffiti making instruments. They were recorded on Wednesday, March 26 putting their “tags” inside the pool hall, on the walls and on some of the machines.

Castro, of 1641 65th St., and Trejo, of 452 53rd St., were arrested in tandem once before for robbery. “They could do time because they have a prior record,” said Police Officer Adrian Harris, who made the arrest and is the graffiti officer for the 68th Precinct.

Police have not ruled out that the graffiti could be gang related because it included the characters “L2D.”

After questioning the suspects, police were able to obtain another location, in Sunset Park, where one of the two young men had written graffiti, as well as the name of another graffiti artist.

Police at the 68th Precinct in Bay Ridge keep a log of all the different graffiti tags. “Even if they’re doing this again, I know their tag now, so I’ll always know where they’ve been,” said Officer Harris.
