In an effort to ease the financial burden of college students, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the New York Urban League have awarded four outstanding college seniors internships at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and $2,000 towards his or her college education from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation.
Winder Zhao of Brooklyn is one of those four exemplary students.
“Winder embodies the true meaning of educational spirit and drive and we’re happy to be able to help him continue his education,” says Carole Lakin, group multicultural relations manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car New York. “Our goal is to recognize those students who have excelled in their schooling and who also possess a real desire to learn about business and to achieve personal success. We hope to provide not only monetary help, but also the chance to use their education and apply it to real world business situations through our hands-on internship program.”
Mr. Zhao attends SUNY New Paltz as a Finance major. “I really enjoyed my time as an Enterprise intern and gained a lot of new skills from the experience,” says Mr. Zhao. “It was also a lot of fun. I didn’t see it as a job, but more as a learning experience where I was allowed to be myself and felt completely comfortable with my fellow workers.”
Mr. Zhao applied for the scholarship/internship, but didn’t think he’d receive it. “I was so excited and thrilled to be chosen,” said Mr. Zhao. “I am grateful to Enterprise and the New York Urban League for their belief in me. School is expensive and every little bit helps!”
Mr. Zhao is unsure of his career choice after graduation, but is considering a career with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in his future. Currently, he is involved with Tau Kappa Epsilon and serves as the fraternity’s President and works with a women’s studies class about feminism and fraternities. Mr. Zhao adds, “I owe my financial security to Enterprise and the NYUL and I appreciate the recognition so much!”
