How long it takes to rent the vacant retail and office spaces at 147 Montague Street may give some indication as to how the economic crisis may affect Brooklyn Heights’ main shopping strip.
The ground floor retail space of 2,100 square feet plus a basement has lost an intended tenant, Vital Dent, a franchised family dentistry service, property owner Harry Killmitzoglou said. The renovation of the interior of the 12-foot wide space was halted several months ago.
The previous tenant, Mr. Souvlaki, was a Greek restaurant operated for 35 years by the Killmitzoglou family until they retired nearly two years ago. The eatery had its grill in a front bay window. Information about the space is available by calling Harry at 347-661-8040.
There are 500 square feet of office space available on the second floor, with a separate street entrance. Details are available from Roula Kallos at Brooklyn Heights Real Estate Inc., 917-557-1060.
