Report: Starbucks to Williamsburg

Williamsburg may soon be getting its first Starbucks, according to the CBS Local site

The site quoted Eater NY as reporting that job postings have appeared on the Starbucks Corporation jobs website for a Brooklyn location at 405-409 Union Ave., on the ground floor of the 65 Ainslie St. luxury condo building near the G train’s Metropolitan Avenue station.

The ad  says Starbucks is seeking a barista and a supervisor at the new location, according to CBS Local.


Riverhead Books and Flavorwire co-sponsor Williamsburg holiday party for PEN American Center

In the borough of all things literary, Riverhead Books (an imprint of Penguin Group) and Flavorwire are partnering to co-sponsor a “Celebrate the Holidays” party on Thursday, Dec. 12. City doesn’t need to return child to birth mother’s care, Brooklyn judge rules

A mother accused of repeatedly neglecting her child is not entitled to the benefit of reasonable efforts being exerted for the safe return of the child to the parental home.

The New York City Administration for Children Services (ACS) filed a petition in Brooklyn’s Family Court to have a 9-month old child removed from her parental home on account of neglect and abuse. ACS believed that Cashmina A.E. was not properly cared for by her mother, Dominique A.E., and alleged that Cashmina was lacking for “adequate food, clothing and shelter.”

Those sweet little businesses are all part of a candy-studded gingerbread village on display for the holiday season in the lobby of the Brooklyn Marriott (officially called the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge).
