There are so many standouts in this artists'/Hispanics'/hipsters' neighborhood that we decided to organize them into a David Letterman-style Top Ten list of the Coolest Places in East Williamsburg.


‘The Global Obama’ examines President’s popularity

Binghamton University professor and journalist Dinesh Sharma has been chronicling and analyzing the Obama presidency for several years. Overview of the nine Long Island College Hospital (LICH) proposals

Long Island College Hospital (LICH) in Cobble Hill proved to be of interest to both hospital operators and developers, attracting nine responses to SUNY’s new Request for Proposals (RFP) that "meet the minimum mandatory requirements.”

Four of the responses call for operating LICH as a full-service hospital. A fifth proposal would build a 149,000 square foot "vanilla box" space and lease it at a low rate to a future hospital operator.

Brooklyn once again welcomed United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, a distinguished jurist of America’s highest court, Friday evening. Originally scheduled to be held at a Brooklyn Law School (BLS) venue, the overabundance of interest caused BLS organizers to host the event at the Harvey Theater at Brooklyn Academy of Music —a venue with a seating capacity of 834.


Prospect Park volunteers honored

On March 15, volunteers who gave 20 or more hours in 2013 received the recognition they deserved at Prospect Park's annual Volunteer Recognition Brunch. More than 4,800 individuals volunteered in the park in 2013, as well as people affiliated with 25 community groups and 19 school groups. The State University of New York has received nine responses to the Long Island College Hospital (LICH) Request for Proposals that "meet the minimum mandatory requirements," SUNY spokesperson David Doyle announced late Friday night.
