Etsy leases huge space in Kushner’s Watchtower complex

Online retailer Etsy is leasing 200,000 square feet in Jared Kushner’s re-branded DUMBO Heights, formerly known as the Watchtower buildings, the company officially posted on its blog. Etsy signed a lease and will be moving to the new space in 2016.

The company began in a humble Fort Greene apartment and is currently located at 55 Washington Street, according to and Crain’s New YorkMore than $1.35 billion in e-commerce goods were sold on the site in 2013, according to a company press release. Gov. Andrew Cuomo praised the move as well, saying that it’s great to see a New York company continue to thrive and expand in the state.

“We’ll remain firmly planted in Brooklyn, where so many independent, creative businesses are flourishing,” the company said on its website.

Etsy was in talks with Kushner and company over the last several days, The Wall Street Journal reported.
