Brooklyn churches, schools celebrate life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Services, Programs Offered Sunday and Monday
The legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his fight to gain civil rights for Black Americans looms as urgently now as it did 50 years ago. Both the movie “Selma” and the ongoing divisiveness in New York City politics and the NYPD highlight the need for greater respect among New Yorkers. As the legal holiday commemorating Dr. King’s birthday falls this weekend, several churches and schools around Brooklyn are holding services to honor and support his work.
