Good morning. Today is the 74th day of the year. On this day in 1950, the FBI instituted the “10 Most Wanted Fugitives” list in an effort to publicize dangerous criminals who were at large. From 1950 to 2011, 494 fugitives have been on the list; of these, 465 were located or apprehended.

Well-known people who were born today include actor Billy Crystal (Analyze This, When Harry Met Sally), composer-producer Quincy Jones and actress Rita Tushingham (Dr. Zhivago, A Taste of Honey).

This evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the powerHouse Arena, 37 Main St., DUMBO, author Catherine Chung will read from her novel Forgotten Country. The book is about a young Korean-American woman’s family life, her search for her temporarily missing sister, and her father’s fight against a grim illness.

Congressman Ed Towns (D-Brooklyn) and National Association of Social Workers Executive Director Elizabeth Clark will speak today at a meeting honoring National Social Work Month. The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Stepping Stone Residence, 50 Nevins St. Towns, who holds an MSW from Adelphi University, worked as an administrator at Beth Israel Medical Center before entering the political arena. ...

Today from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis College, 180 Remsen St., Professor Frank Sorrentino will deliver the first of three lectures on the presidency and leadership in the United States. The topic of today’s lecture will be “Presidential Power.”
