P.S. 127 dresses up to raise money for March of Dimes

Kids and teachers alike arrived for classes at Bay Ridge’s P.S. 127 on a recent Tuesday dressed not in their usual school attire, but in costumes.

It was all part of a special day set aside as a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, the nonprofit nationwide organization that assists parents of premature infants.

Students played dress up, picked pumpkins from a special pumpkin patch and voted on the Best Decorated Pumpkin.

Even principal Agatha Alicandro got into the act. Alicandro, assistant principal Kerry Quaglione and assistant principal Toni Ann Laudicina dressed as super women, complete with capes.

Quaglione’s husband, John Quaglione, deputy chief of staff to state Sen. Marty Golden (R-C-Bay Ridge-Southwest Brooklyn), is the president of the Brooklyn Committee of the March of Dimes New York.

A highlight of the day came when students took part in a Wonder Walk around the school yard.

P.S. 127, also known as the McKinley Park School, is located at 7805 Seventh Ave. in Bay Ridge.
