Five men charged for Coney Island street gang activity
Four members and one associate of Coney Island-based street gang, West End Enterprise, were slated to be arraigned Monday afternoon at Brooklyn’s federal court on multiple charges revolving around their alleged gang activity.
The five are variously charged with murder in aid of racketeering, witness tampering, robbery and unlawful use of firearms between 2011 and 2017, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The gang took domain over the Sea Rise Apartments, the Gravesend Houses and Surfside Gardens, also known as the “Mermaid Houses,” on the western end of Coney Island.
