RUSSIA — Putin Slated to Win Fourth Term: Visitors look at paintings of Russian president Vladimir Putin at the “SUPERPUTIN” exhibition at the UMAM museum in Moscow on Thursday. The 65-year old Russian leader, who has ruled the country since 2000, announced on Wednesday that he would seek his fourth term in office in March. Putin’s 80-percent approval ratings make his victory all but certain.

NEPAL — Waiting to Vote: Women stand and wait on a queue to cast their vote during the legislative elections in Thimi on Thursday. Millions of people in Nepal are voting in the final phase of elections for members of the national and provincial assemblies. About 12 million voters in the southern half of the Himalayan nation voted on Thursday.

Eight Latin American governments on Wednesday applauded Honduras’ willingness to recount disputed votes in the presidential elections, but questions remain about how thorough that recount will be.

UKRAINE — Protesters Call for President’s Resignation: Former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili gestures to protesters after he escaped arrest with help from supporters and led them on a march toward parliament, where they planned to call for President Petro Poroshenko to resign in Kiev on Tuesday. A dangerous new wildfire erupted in the tony Bel Air area of Los Angeles early Wednesday as firefighters battled three other destructive blazes across Southern California.
