A Bedford-Stuyvesant landlord was busted on multiple forgery counts for trying to evict his tenants using a dead notary’s signature on public documents, the district attorney announced Monday.

In filing civil suits against his five 455 Tompkins Ave. tenants for claiming they damaged his property, Abdus Shahid allegedly used the stamp and signature of public notary, Yitzchok Ring, who died the year before filing, according to a district attorney statement.

A Legal Aid Society attorney for the tenants, who claimed Shahid was trying to evict them for filing 311 complaints against him, discovered the signature on the documents filed between March 16, 2015 and September 8, 2016.

Shahid, 64, was arraigned on Friday in Brooklyn Criminal Court on a criminal complaint that pinned him with 28 counts of forgery, offering a false instrument for filing and making a sworn false statement.

He was released without bail to return to court on April 17.

“This defendant attempted to fool the court by using someone else’s identity for his nefarious business plans,” District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in the statement. “As Brooklyn continues to soar in popularity as a wonderful place to live, I am committed to protecting the rights of its residents.”
