Good morning. Today is the 118th day of the year. It is the birth anniversary (1822) of Ulysses S. Grant, 18th president of the United States. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1843. President Abraham Lincoln promoted him to lieutenant general in command of all the Union armies in March of 1864. He received General Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox, Va., on April 9, 1865.

Well-known people who were born today include actress Anouk Aimee, singer Sheena Easton, radio and TV personality Casey Kasem and actor Jack Klugman (“The Odd Couple,” “Quincy, MD”).

St. Francis College will celebrate its Charter Day today at 3 p.m. at the college’s Founders Hall, 180 Remsen St. The college will honor Borough President Marty Markowitz and real estate developer/philanthropist John Loconsolo. … Tomorrow, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams will host the Flatbush Community Health Fair at the Flatbush YMCA at 1401 Flatbush Ave. from 1 to 4 p.m. … The Gallery Players will present Wonderful Town by Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green beginning tomorrow at 8 p.m. The musical won five Tony Wards in 1953.
