Brooklyn Today: June 25, 2012
Good morning. Today is the 177th day of the year. The entire front page of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of June 25, 1902, focused on the serious illness of Britain’s King Edward VII, who was reported to be “in the shadow of death.”
The paper went on to say that prayers for him were being said in every corner of the Empire — not only by members of the Church of England, but by Jews, Muslims, Catholics, Hindus and other “non-conformists.” The king, however, lived until 1910.
