Good morning. Today is the 291st day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Oct. 17, 1862, carried what many historians believe to be the first news article on a baseball game between two African-American teams. The reporter, while walking through the Bedford neighborhood, came upon a match between the Unknowns, based in Weeksville, and the Monitors, based closer to Downtown Brooklyn.

Well-known people who were born today include musician-rapper Eminem, actress Margot Kidder (“Superman” films, “The Amityville Horror”), actor Michael McKean (‘Laverne and Shirley”) and actor George Wendt (“Cheers”).
