“I Got Rhythm,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” “Embraceable You” and other beloved songs by George and Ira Gershwin are featured in the musical “Crazy for You” to be presented next month by Narrows Community Theater, a Bay Ridge-based company.
“Crazy for You” is the story of “Bobby Child,” a well-to-do 1930's playboy, whose dream in life is to dance. Despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancée, Bobby achieves his dream! It's a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers, and classic Gershwin music, according to representatives of Narrows Community Theater.
Michael Santora stars as “Bobby Child” and Nicole Davey co-stars as “Polly Baker” in the musical to be presented Nov. 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. Other cast members include Tia James as “Tess” Hilary Goldman as “Irene,” Yaron Urbas as “Lank,” and Dalles Wilie as “Bela Zangler.”
The show’s music and lyrics were written by George and Ira Gershwin. Ken Ludwig wrote the book for the musical.
