A drive to name a Brooklyn Heights playground after the late Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who grew up in the neighborhood, has taken a new turn and has gotten the support of Beastie Boys’ management.

Jung Sook Lee, the owner of popular Brooklyn Heights market Peas and Pickles, stands proudly inside the store’s new extension, which is opening next door to the main market on Pineapple Walk. Lee said that the new section would eventually hold a deli and a hot and cold salad bar.

The planned residential conversion of the former police precinct building in Brooklyn Heights can finally move forward, with last week’s approval by the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) in Manhattan.

Its website, which is still under development, says the Ruby and Jenna Brooklyn Heights store will be opening in May. It describes the store’s offerings as “reasonably priced clothing” for women and girls.

The former space of Jennifer Convertibles at 121 Montague Street was being cleaned out Monday morning (above). A Le Pain Quotidien bakery is expected to open there next month.
